Prison of Apathy
What was believed to be something true
Turned out to be nothing new
Continuing on with false hope in mind
Only to be betrayed and forced to refine
When will I wake from these delusions?
It’s only reduced me to ruins
Love expressed with no clarity
Will become a prison of apathy
There seems to be no alternative
Just an artificial feeling with nothing to give
Is there even any point in going on
To chase down what has already gone?
I wish I could open up to let you see
Encaged in this prison that is my heart
Is a single inmate that wants to be free
Left in the dark, with chains of apathy
This one is about the misunderstanding of love in general. This world has blurred the definition of love so much that it's become something that is distributed as if it's something simple and of little value. It is played like a petty game. Like the chorus says, if we express love that is unclear, uncertain, and disloyal it will bring on apathy for everyone. People can be hurt by expressionless and disloyal love, people that simply wish to be given the true love they deserve and give themselves. But sometimes this world abandons those who are truly loyal and caring in the apathetic darkness.
