Autumn in the city

Homeward bound, the buslights pierce the darkness
Of a foggy autumn evening;
Leaves creak in the mind,
Slicing the brain with a sword of fire.
Dusk–
At home, in the stillness at the centre of all things,
The thin air thickens wrapping all sounds:
Cars,
Dishes and glasses clanking at the bar downstairs,
Voices...
Reflections of endless moments echoing endeering nostalgia.
