Alexandre Kappaun
Alexandre de Oliveira Kappaun is a professor of international relations and economics and a translator. But his childhood dream was always to be a science fiction writer, just like his great idol, the American writer Ray Bradbury. He is a compulsive reader; he reads everything from medicine leaflets to shampoo labels. In the field of literature, it is the same thing, he likes to read from the classics to more “popular” authors, such as Stephen King and Agatha Christie. He has published the book Magnífica Permanência and has participated in the following anthologies: Nós: Poesias para Tardes Ensolaradas and X Coletânea Século XXI. As a translator, he has translated into Portuguese the following works: What Happened Here, by Eliot Weinberger (Record, 2006), The Conscience of a Liberal, by Nobel laureate in economics Paul Krugman (Record, 2009) and Hitler and Nazism, by Dick Geary (2010). Alexandre has a beautiful daughter, Gabrielle, whom he and his family affectionately call Amorinha.
