The Purpose of the Stars

They, above;
in the ceiling of the world
watch and guide men
shining up there

With infinite purposes:
to guide a traveller
to cry beneath them
to be watched by two lovers

Time does not care about them
they were watched by a Roman
by a French revolutioner
and by you

Even at the farthest place,
they are always there,
the company for a loneley person
the reminder to a lover...

At the last verse it reads "the reminder to a lover" this (for those who do not have a love) is explained simply: generally a lover will see in the stars the bright of the eyes she/he is in-love with. So the stars, no matter how far you are from him/her the stars will remind you of her/him
