Magazines.

So young and naive, enough to believe everything you hear.
Little girl, please stay away from the tv and magazines.
They’d hurt you until your eyes bleed.
“Why am I not thin?” that’s all you’ll think.
The paper in your hands will show you how to lose weight.
Cause no one could love a girl who’s not skinny enough.
Comparing yourself to others is gonna be your new religion.
Everything’s so new and exciting, people claim you’re so smarter.
Cause now you’re dieting instead of playing with barbies.
Skipping meals seems easier, cause nothing works as starving.
Your mother used to be proud, but now her little girl just lies.
She used to be happier, now she’s full of rage.
Nothing’s ever enough while trying to become someone else.
Wants to see her bones, and finds herself crying alone.
The magazines show happy pretty girls, but now she’s only miserable.
Her friends keep asking questions, “when did you become so small?”
And she can’t give an answer cause it’s time to puke her guts.
Some of them say she has become prettier,
others say she’s off the rails.
Cause the only thing on her mind is fading away.
She keeps claiming she ain’t sick, cause she’s not thin, like the girls from the ward.
That little girl is slowly killing herself, but not fast enough to worry her mom.
The reflection in the mirror will maker her cry.
Because her thighs are not apart.
Her lips are shaking, she’s so angry.
Her obsession with perfection keeps messing with her mind.
She never learned how to love herself, and knows it’s too late.
The pictures on the magazines stole her innocence.
