Myself

All I’m known for is indignancey

Unilaterally, that’s all I guess.

Dilated perceptions since infancy

Righteous soap box preaching to brick walls at best.

Even though the rest, my peers, won’t see bigotry,

Youth is all the time I have to set man free.

Leaving my obvious role, it having shined,

A deeper probe shows a lonesome life.

Under that, a promising mind,

Gravely refusing the destiny of “wife”.

Happy instead to help those left behind,

Really striving to perceive man beyond first sight.

Every cent I forsake, not due to kindness,

Yanking cloth of pockets for causes is right.

(2014)

This is a simple acrostic poem describing my perceived role in society.
