Patriot, as the smoke clears,
You feel yourself wonder,
“Are there any enemies left to fear?”
Soldier, you have fought so hard and long,
And lost many friends,
Though you have come out tall and strong,
Hero, you entered willing,
Into the brotherhood of arms,
You signed up to do other mens killing,
Brother, hold your loved ones dear,
For I shall take your place in the ranks,
Until the smoke on my front clears.
