A Quiet Ode to October

Yellow-green leaves lie still
Upon the concrete ground.
Cars are parked,
People are sparse;
It is the afternoon.

Gray permeates
All that is here.
It comforts me to know
That it will stay with me
Wherever I go.

The late season will leave—
Winter is soon to come.
That is fine,
I do not mind,
Fall will keep me warm.

I wrote this last month but I could not make the last stanza work until now.
