Mus(e)ic Theory

Listen closely to this, mine beating heart
Thumping with passion, imagination;
My longing onto you it does impart
In the tuned key of deep adoration.
This rhythm of love, it came nary from me,
But so wrote itself from some deeper mould.
This tangent song, this blooming melody,
Worth more to me than what can e’er be sold.
Melodies of our hearts could harmonize;
Tell me fore you leave, is yours playing too?
The star-crossed bards in us could synchronize;
Together, playing a song, just we two.
      Da-dum, listen close before you depart;
      Da-dum, listen close to mine beating heart.

We're doing sonnets this week, so my professor off-handedly suggested we attempt to write one ourself. This is my attempt at a Shakespearean sonnet.

140 syllables, 10 syllables per line, ABABCDCDEFEFGG; poetry as the art of numbers.
