A Cracking Tragedy

I hungered for biscuits
So crinkly and crumbly
A savoury crack;
O, I was hungry.

Took hold of the handles,
Trod on the pedals,
The gear of the mount;
Clicking as sound.

On the horizon,
A boutique of yonder—
Dismounting my steed
an’ gazing upon its wonder.

Much to my delight,
Under fluorescent and holy light,
There they were those crackers of yorn,
Them I’ve searched since early morn’

And so;
I grabbed them with haste
And paid with taste,
Yen well spent,
So homewards I went.

But on that trip
Those crackers of fright
Broke loose from their cage
An’ took unlearned flight.

And from their nest, they flew south
In front o’ the horse o’ steel—
And crumbled not in my yearning mouth
But under that ghastly wheel.
