The chocolate spoke to me

The chocolate spoke to me

On the table, there it sat.
On the table, perfectly wrapped.
Within a moment, I could see
The chocolate looking right at me.

Out of its wrapper it did sneak
And all of a sudden it did speak
“Hey you! Over there! Come have a taste!
Have a nibble off my face!”

I couldn’t believe my very eyes.
Who was this thing in this disguise?
All perfect looking, a yummy treat
All ready and waiting for me to eat

“Just one nibble, I’m so delicious.
I know I’m not at all nutritious.
But just one bite and then I’ll go
I’m sure your mum will never know”

Within a flash, I held it tight
But I didn’t stop at just one bite
“Save my bottom!” The chocolate said
But that went down just like his head.

“The chocolate made me eat the block
And when I started I couldn’t stop!”
My mother laughed hysterically
Then stopped a little to stare at me

I knew she thought I was telling a lie
And soon enough I began to cry
“I’m sure the chocolate spoke to me
I’m sure of it why don’t you see!”

“Come on son, this can’t be true
I don’t know what is wrong with you.
Chocolate cannot speak you know
Please don’t worry, just let it go”

The chocolate truly spoke to me
I don’t know why my mum can’t see
On the table there it sat
On the table once perfectly wrapped.
Gulp.

An excuse given from a child to his mother explaining why the chocolate disappeared.
Children are full of wonderful reasons.
I wrote this for my class for a giggle.
