One year ago you went away
And even though I tried I couldn’t make you stay
“You know I love you and the kids right”
Not knowing these words would be the last thing you would say before that fateful night
Mum sees you still in her home
And around us your presence is free to roam
Burkey has lost his brother his friend
I know his heart will never truly mend
Your Mum and Dad have lost a son
To have a chance to say goodbye, a day just one
Everyone that knew you has a hole in their heart
You just didnt realise that you played a huge part
Forever grieving
Forever sad
But forever believing
We never were mad
You had to go to ease your pain
But that has left us with tears that fall like rain
Goodbye for now is all we can say
And forever in our hearts you will always stay
