Tongue Tied

The day I first saw you I knew then and there I needed to know you, I threw you a stare.
You left me breathless and my heart skipped a beat as I watched you walk slowly crossing the street.
Our eyes met for what seemed like days but only seconds passed when we held our gaze.
I’ll never forget her or that one special day, and no one will ever take that away.
But.....
(Chorus)
Sometimes, I don’t know how I feel.
Was my love for her that real?
I don’t want to hurt inside, I just want to run and hide.
I may stumble, I may fall, but it was only love after all.
(Verse)
It was just yesterday that you squeezed my hand, barefoot and running on the sand.
Running free, chasing waves, nothing to worry about in those long summer days.
You and I, I thought we were real, what we had together no one could steal.
Then it happened on that night, the sky so black, I had that feeling something wasn’t right.
We took my ride to escape the rain,
I drove so fast, I felt insane.
You told me that you didn’t know where or if our love would grow.
I couldn’t say the words she needed to hear
I lost control and couldn’t steer.
(Chorus)
Sometimes, I don’t know how I feel.
Was my love for her that real?
I don’t want to hurt inside, I just want to run and hide.
I may stumble, I may fall, but it was only love after all.
(Verse)
In an instant, it happened so fast, the crash of metal and breaking glass.
I heard her screams and felt the terror inside,
I lost control of my ride.
I grabbed her hand and held it tight as we sat in darkness out of sight.
Her breaths were shallow, she said she had to go, but there was one last thing she wanted to know.
Did I love her?
(Chorus)
Sometimes, I don’t know how I feel.
Was my love for her that real?
I don’t want to hurt inside, I just want to run and hide.
I may stumble I may fall, but it was only love after all.
(Verse)
I looked her sadly in the face and without a thought I fell from grace.
Before the words were ever spoken, the silent spell could not broken.
I held her in my arms that night and watched her fade into the light.
Now she is gone, she’s so far away, and all she wanted, were the words I couldn’t say.
