A Summer

Lonely, summer skies are falling
By the rivers, on my cheeks, they’re running
Waves of sorrow wake me late at night
When all I dream of is a summer, that is gone
Born of mine, of mind, a summer– never lived
So, why crushing down, I keep going back to it
Numbed out, all I know is to lie down
No more, can I wish for warmth when
October winds are knocking on my door
When since that summer, for so long
Now, I only slumber on my bedroom floor

Everyone is welcome to interpret the poem as seems fit. To give context, the poem was inspired by a feeling of nostalgia for moments that never existed. I wanted to go back to a place and moment in time that, in fact, never existed. Hope it can help find the peace you need.
