I Bless This Being

While the town sleeps
and dreams behind me.
And pined islands lay
silently, invisibly
off the salt-tongued shore.
I rise, bare-bodied,
from my warm bed
out into the cool,
falling rain.
To bless this being
of flesh and bone,
heart and soul.
To feel the wildness
of Nature;
let the blissful sensual
world touch
my willing skin,
bathe my upraised face,
fill my upturned palms.
Let the elements
of this pure living place
anoint me
on this pouring Autumn night.
