Seeing the World

for my goddaughter Sarah at 32

Back in time,
a romantic era of
English Time,
they used to send a son
or daughter off
to The Continent
as they “came of age.”
To broaden
their horizons.
Think Room
With a View.
But the whole world
is seeable
wherever you are
at any moment.
In so many
microcosms,
microdoses.
When you open
your eyes.
The wider eyes
of your mind,
the roving eyes
of your imagination.
And not just seeable
but greatly feel-able,
when you seek to
meet the world
around you
with an open heart,
an ageless spirit,
a fresh sense
of wonder.
Where today and
every day you’re here
becomes a Grand Tour,

a bon voyage.
