Freely, unapologetically and celebratorily a single woman!

By Stanley Collymore

Yes! I am a young woman of 27 but self-evidently
it’s quite obvious to me that many of you who
think that you know me can’t see, don’t
believe or even willing to accept that
undoubtedly I’m not in the marriage market.
Nor am I remotely looking for a husband
to either supplement or even as some
of you fundamentally believe both
complement as well as entirely
compliment my personal life
by commendably, for him,
making me his licit wife.

A young, single and, dare I say so, a totally
self-confident and independent minded
female then, but obviously imbued,
as any perceptive person will plainly see
and logically agree, with the matching
responsive feelings, physical urges
and sensual expectations as the
typical modern-day woman.

However, and most self-confidently for me, these
innermost and essential requirements of mine
aren’t, on my part or in any conceivable
way for their fulfilment, contingent
upon the obligatory necessity of my either
having a consistent and sociable sperm
donor or a permanent and endorsed
husband installed in my private
life. And so it’s neither my
intention, nor will it ever
be, to unquestioningly
capitulate to any of
these sanctioning
predictabilities.

Author’s Remarks:
As my regular readers, students and, of course, those closest to me are all fully ware my poetry as indeed my other published works are all based on observational situations as well as my personal objective perceptions of these, and this particular poem you’re either about to or have just read is no exception.

The young lady featured in this poem is real, 27 years old and a friend who in conjunction with her divorced parents I’ve personally known for the last 17 years.

Bright, socially well-adjusted and universally liked the views expressed by here are honestly held and genuinely her own. However, they are by no means or any stretch of the imagination dogmatic, insular, self-opinionated, remotely contemptuous or derogatory of opinions contrary to her own; as she’s definitely not that sort of person.

None the less she does honestly and readily concede that since most human beings instinctively long to know to whom they naturally and genuinely belong, it would be better if all children consciously conceived were done so within the bounds of lawful matrimony.
