Saber del mundo
profundo y permanente
en este panorama de lo interno,
el tiempo me sorprende suavemente
mientras la agitación sigue su curso
si el ámbito exterior lo contamina.
Hondura hay en mis aguas y en mi clima
y en la fusión con tu corriente interna;
con esa singular corriente eterna
tan tierna en tu presencia
que todo lo demás sale sobrando.
Hondura en mi resguardo y en el tuyo,
en la profunda llama de la hoguera;
tu casa, tu lugar, tu madriguera,
amada compañera de mi salmos;
los álamos del bosque,
los áridos senderos del desierto
y el húmedo ondulante manantial
de tersa majestad de tu laguna.
¡Fortuna en mis honduras!

Knowing the world
deep and abiding
in this panorama of the inner,
time surprises me gently
while the turmoil is ongoing
if the external field contaminates it.
There is depth in my waters and in my climate
and in the merger with your inner flow;
with that singular eternal stream
so tender in your presence
everything else is superfluous.
Depth in my shelter and in yours,
in the deep flame of fire;
your home, your place, your den,
beloved companion of my psalms;
poplar forest,
arid desert trails
