Avon Beach, Mudeford

There’s a gentle lapping on the shore,
A sunny day, we hope for more.
The sea is saying come on in,
Yet much too cold to take a swim.
Sailing boats are out in force
To the Isle of Wight it seems their course.
In a cloudless sky the sun is warm,
While yesterday there was a storm.
Beach huts are being occupied,
Many here have been supplied.
And families now are on the beach,
The furthest place the sea can reach,
To which they’ve driven from far and wide
To see soft sand and teasing tide.
The breeze is cool the sky is blue,
Our cluttered minds we’ll wash anew.
Seagulls are calling high and low,
And people are walking to and fro.
Little boats are chugging from the harbour,
A lifeboat’s coming in through choppy water.
It’s delightful now both cool and warm,
Where many fossils once were formed.
This force of nature is where we’re from–
My god, just look how far we’ve come!
