Summer Deterrents

“Over the river and through the wood
To Grandmother’s house we go. ...”
But it’s not the wolf I worry about
It’s those Blank-ah-de-Blank Bugs! You Know?!?

Those with wings and those with legs
The pests that sting and bite
Must see me as their only meal
Morning, noon, and night.

Soon as I enter that summer grass,
Near the river or the forest, dark,
They come for me, tick and flee,
Even the mosquitoes find their mark.

So whenever I go to Grandma’s house
I spread on the goo and spray the spray.
It is little deterrent for most of the bugs
But it sure has kept the wolves away!
