When you were mine

Back in the day when you were mine
I listen to my heart and I wonder from time to time,
Was it a dream or was it real?
It had to be, because my heart is longing still,
I watch you from afar as you lay within his arms
and I try to recall how it came that I lost it all.
You were my girl my Angel of love
sent to me from heaven above.
The pair he ordained with his anointed love,
soul mates meant to grow old,
So how can it be someone just swooped in and stole,
My one and only who saved my soul from that ugly road
I was traveling on?
As I remember back when you were mine
I don’t remember closing our book at any time,
You were the most beautiful thing
That my blue eyes had ever seen.
When we touched or were both in the same room,
It was magical Like staring at the star filled sky
on a night of a blue moon.
Laying on our backs by the river bed,
Kissing and cuddling with stars in our heads.
Sipping on wine and having a picnic
under the Oak where we would sit on a blanket
sharing chocolate covered strawberries
and not a care in the world.
Yes I remember clearly when you were my girl.
Can you remember, Can you see?
Those vivid memories of you and me.
Oh I wish that you still felt those sweetest desires
Like when we would get lost for hours and hours,
In each others arms where all felt right.
There was so much love found in that place.
I would watch you sleep and long to see
your beautiful eyes smiling back at me.
I’m still here, I haven’t gone far.
I’m lying and waiting for you to remember
The things you said and the things you felt,
And finally I’ll open my eyes from this
nightmare I am being dealt.
