Yesteryear

Through my memories of yesteryear
I walk that path with fondness,
Though some may see it as not so great,
It’s what has made me who I am today.
As I view my memories of yesteryear,
I keep you close to my heart,
For the greatest times of my life,
You have been the biggest part.
We loved, We laughed, We played,
We struggled along the way.
But in the end when the smoke is clear,
I have fond memories of my yesteryear.
Now times do change and so can ones heart,
But I pray that you know,
That of my memories your one of the greatest parts.
You gave me something that can’t be replaced,
And on so many occasions a smile on my face.
You shared your life, your love and your pain,
You gave me fond memories to visit again.
So when I walk that path of yesteryear,
I get to smile many more times,
Remembering Back in the days when that life was mine.
I’m thankful for all that I have learned along the way,
And I’m thankful for who I have become today.
For if it was not for yesteryear,
I certainly never would have made it here.
