Immigrating together

They call us Illigal
They tell us were evil
They try to take away our rights
They act like were fruit that is way too ripe

They bully our children
Yet say that we bully them
I came home crying
Because of what the boy said

I told my mama
She told me not to listen
Act like him im dissing

I was eight an “allien” a “crimminal” he said
For living with culture?
For wanting a good education?
Me a crimminal I cannot see
But that didnt stop him from telling me

But we are together
My fellow immigrants and I
And we will not take it any longer
My wanting for justice feels like way more than hunger
I feel like a lion roaming in the jungle
That boy won’t say things to me any longer.
