You and I can no longer
Walk blindly past the writing
On the wall, or deny the holes
On the floor and the water on our feet.
You and I both know that
The last crumbs of our sand
Have touched the bottom of
Our hourglass,
And that time for us is up.
For it is no longer easy to smile,
It is no longer easy to deny
That there is a monster biting
The truth of our insides,
Waiting for us to say the words.
You and I both know
The twisted ways in which
Sadness follows, and how it
Can crawl so deep that it reaches
Your soul, leaving it so sick
That you wish to die.
But even so,
It is time
It is time

It is time.
