Eyes
I didn’t know that
it was possible for something
to glow in the dark but shine in the light
you have your own language
that only the one with the key can unlock
and the ability to read books
whose stories are written in invisible ink
some doors may not let you in
so you may have to turn the knob yourself
teacher but also
student
allowing us to see
but also to be blind
fierce dictator
gentle servant
swim into the depths of the sea
and back up again
fall in love
read a poem
watch a play
two of you but one picture
and never
the same
in the entire universe
one-billion nebulas
centered around a black hole
something else
entirely.
