Nine

I wish that I could convince myself to love him as much as I love you
But it just isn’t the same
He and I never had that kind of connection
We’ve never loved each other at the right time
But you and I we had the most perfect timing
In turn, we have the most perfect memories
I have never missed him as much as I miss you
As we sit hundreds of miles apart
In this time of not speaking
This moment of silence we are holding for the death of us
What kills me the most is you never broke my heart
Distance has caused my heartbreak
Him and I we have always been by each other’s sides
We have never known how it feels
to hold each other for the last time
We’ve never known what its like to pull the other close
and stare off into the trees
We’ve never had to whisper ill miss you
Or wonder if the other will respond
Or if they miss you as much as you so achingly miss them
Because nothing compares to that feeling
Ours is a love that has never known the taste of the other’s lips
The satisfaction of the first and the anguish of the last kiss
The last embrace
The last line of a poem
That no one knows how to finish
