Mother’s Day

God Almighty first planted a garden. And indeed, it is the purest of human pleasures. –
Francis Bacon (1625) Essays ‘Of Gardens’

She dances to a beat nobody hears

A heavenly melody in her head

A smile on her face, in her eyes no tears

A gleam, a sparkle, a twinkle instead

It’s a warm, sun-filled, beautiful spring day

May flowers are in bloom all around her

Blossoms arranged, an over-sized bouquet

Entranced, she walked with her lovely daughter

What more can she ask for, this Mother’s Day

The same every year till she’s old and gray
