Winter Gripes

"When it snows, you have two choices;
shovel snow or make snow angels"

Our passionate wish to be somewhere tropical
For over here; days are shorter, nights are colder
With AC off electricity much lower,
But gas consumption has gone astronomical!
Sun we haven’t seen, wondering where it has gone
Snow, ice, sleet, rain interrupted by cloudy days
Not much to do except to watch dull matinees,
And then read a dozen books from dusk until dawn...
Really! we must go out rather than vegetate
Close our eyes; face winter’s invigorating breeze
Feel alive, feel the movement of the leaf-less trees
Forget our gripes, make winter not so desolate!
