Now I can see

NOW I CAN SEE

Lost in thought sitting by the harbour wall
Emerged in tranquility my memories I recall
From a time in my life that sadly is no more
Then I came back to reality with the touch from my boy who’s four

I felt his little hand as it reached out for mine
Looking so lost and alone, he told me he was left behind
Then he became so emotional and began to cry
I put my arms around him wanting to know why?

Daddy when God made me, he said this is the way it will be
My child you will be special, with eyes that cannot see
Please do not be sad, for it will not be for long
So daddy that’s why I am crying, because I don’t feel that strong

I could not see the colours, of the rainbows in the sky
I could not see the humming bees or the birds flying by
I could not see the sand or the waves upon the sea
Daddy that’s what God meant when he said, that is the way it will to be

I held my son so tightly for soon I would have to let him go
Back to a place where his angel wings will grow
A place called heaven, where he will never feel left behind
For up in heaven everyone can see, there is no one who is blind

In our good lords care the crippled can walk
When they are in heaven the mute they will talk
Those who were deaf will hear once again
And those who were ill will be free of all pain

So daddy I am happy, but now I must say goodbye
I’m only four so forgive me when I cry
I will watch over you all, because now I can see
Daddy if you’re looking for me in heaven I will be
