The Agony of Night and Day

The moon howls out in the night
In so much pain its beautiful complexion has turned ghostly white

The sun writhes in the day sky in fiery agony
How long can you stare at the sun before your eyes start to burn, too?

Grey storm clouds let loose a torrential downpour of tears
Mourning this sad, sad world

The trees stand silently, forced to bear such a weighty burden
And yet unable to scream out

The air, choking with sobs
With no way to be comforted

Lightning flashes once, brilliantly
Then is lost to the void of nothingness

So too his brother thunder,
Booming with one final roar of defiance,
Before he too fades away

The mist spreads out,
Wishing that it could shroud its own despair

The pain “hidden” within Nature
Is quite easy to see
When you, too, know
The Agony of Night and Day.
