To Be Free

Night comes
The darkness closes in
On the form sleeping in the bed
It cannot be stopped
It will take another victim
Yell at him!
Wake him up!
Turn on the light!
Is it too late already?
If you’re reading this, it is
Goodbye,
But there wasn’t really a chance after all
He unplugged the light,
And took off his glasses,
And kept his eyes shut,
And his ears plugged,
He wanted the darkness to come
And he smiled before he left with it
The expectations, the grades, the money, the games, the friends, the family
The love, the hate, the cold, the warm
He let them all go
Let them enjoy a world he could not
A world he would not
So he moved on
He didn’t really care where
“There”, “Here”, “Home” were all words
Laced with pain for him
So he left for Nowhere
Or Everywhere
He was free.
