Tag You're It

When I walked through the door
My jaw dropped to the floor
You were there, taking a stand
Sinking slowly in quick sand
I laughed and cried and saved you before you died

We went for a walk
And you decided we’d talk
I agreed and nodded
Everything I said, you bought it
I’ve never lied so much in my life
I’m the husband, the lies are my wife

I always knew we’d be tied in matrimony
The truth was fake, my id was phony
Now the cat is out of the bag
Who’s winning this game of tag?

Tag you’re it, now it’s your turn
Tag you’re it, now you’ll soon learn

I’ll hide and you try to find me
Hurry up before I have to pee
I’ll be behind the coats in the closet
It’s the eerie drip of the kitchen faucet

That keeps you up at night
You didn’t want to leave without a fight
So I stayed and gave you a while
You came to notice I argue like a child

The talk is over, the dust is clear
The sun arises to show you care
We hold hands and run in the meadow
I don’t hang out at playgrounds
Because I’d look like a pedo
