For Linzi

My thoughts bring expectations - unforfilled!
of beauty, and of longing for my imagined lover,
She seems so far away to never thrill,
For someone else that might take her place - Another?

Friendship substitutes my feasting eyes
Remembering all the lonely months from yesterday
Leaving time and honour to make its exit
To deny all lifes years that have gone swiftly by?

Explaining love? - like breaking carbon locked
in a diamond’s fire.
Cannot be done! except to make my love seem weak!
My caresses - they languish in nothing but my desire,
Frustrated and made to bow at loves defeat.

How can one 'bouquet’ look so sweet,
when another standing by, repels the eye?
And yet, arrangements can make ALL THIS a treat.
Except my love that’s been denied

So - frustrated at chained love that’s locked,
That no key can open without forced intent,
To look inside and not to find a lovers knot
Is no surprise for loves loser to lament!

The hurt of pain can cleave a heart assunder
To perish, bleeding, needing careful understanding
Makes all but those who look in wonder
To find an answer to this conundrum?
