The Cost to Follow Christ (Matthew 8 vs. 18-22)

Jesus speaks of a price to be paid
for those that say I will follow you
this scribe promises to follow Jesus
wherever you go that I will do

We must be careful before we promise
for Jesus our word remember He will
as every word spoken will be held to account
on God’s judgement day we will stand still

Jesus told of having nowhere to live
unlike even the birds of the air
they were better off than the savour
as at least they had nests for their care

Also the foxes had their holes
to protect themselves from danger
but Jesus never had any luxury
even at birth had only a manger

Jesus will accept no excuses
for not following the risen one
even family must take second place
to following God’s beloved son

The Cost of Following Jesus. Matthew 8 vs. 18-22

18 Now when Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. 19 And a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” 20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” 21 Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 22 And Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”
