It took a few hours,
But she finally said I could go,
There was a real big party,
With a live band show,
I was driving down the street,
At around half past four,
I could see there were lots of people,
And my friends waiting by the door.
The party went on,
Till around 3 am,
I wanted to leave now,
Cause the place was starting to cram.
People started leaving,
So I thought I’d do the same,
I hadn’t been drinking,
But I knew that others weren’t the same.
As I started down the road,
I skidded and swerved,
To miss the drunken drivers,
As the road was dark and curved.
My mobile rang,
I tried to ignore it,
As I fiddled for the off button,
My car was hit.
The car shook,
As it swerved faster down the hill,
I tried to get control,
Then all went still.
The car started rolling,
Slowly on a slope,
I could see the shimmer of water,
My heart was forlorn hope.
Slowly water leaked into the car,
I was shaking as I searched for the handle on the door,
My head hurt, I could taste blood,
As more water leaked onto the floor.
I pulled the door handle,
But it seemed to be stuck,
The car jerked forwards,
It seemed I was out of luck.
As I sat there crying,
I didn’t even think,
I could have screamed but I just sat there,
As the car began to sink.
Slowly the water rose,
Soon to be over my head,
I wept as I sat there thinking,
If don’t do something I would soon be dead.
Now I couldn’t see the surface,
And I soon had no breath,
All around me was a blur,
I could feel it death
