The Sword

Why don’t we give love a try
Put down our weapon
If only for a moment
And see the beauty within each other

Words are like a double-edged-sword
That cuts deep within

But in its sheath
In its sheath it is a beautiful gift
Meant to be wielded with truth, love, and honor

A person can be measured by how well they wield their sword
Whether freely, without technique and motivated by anger

Or swiftly
Like the wind blowing through the branches of trees
With a melodious tone to the blade slicing the breeze

With restraint and the willingness to protect
Like Socrates and his words
So we should wield our words

The craftsmanship that created something so beautiful
Is easily distorted by some and used for repulsive acts

Like words were made to show love
But get used to show hate

We dismiss diplomacy
Like dictatorship would be better
But really,
What is better than love

Controlling our words is harder than controlling our physical weapons though
Love may be ideal but is it possible

Have we gone so far back to our primal times
That to change would be to invent a new way to live
If that is what it costs than we should invest
