By J Ann Crowder
I see you
Standing before your reflection
I see you
Inside your reflection
Inside a mirror
A mild complexion; smooth skin tones
Your eyes are sad and weeping as aspen willow trees
By a life broken
Yet,
Underneath your eyes I see a blaze
I see you
Through your blush barrier and subtle, rosed cheeks
Within
The reflection
A lioness glowers
She wants to break free
To pounce from her shell
Her amber gaze ever steady
Her teeth, a porcelain glow
Through reflections she stares with jade hearts of pearls and fire
Her core boils
Ready to battle her demons, her faith and reason
She doesn’t recoil
This lioness queen
Inside you
_____
When sunsets come riding in upon ginger clouds afire
Before night befalls day
I want you to see what I see
Inside the mirror
Inside your reflection
Within
The inner you
No matter how hard life gets we still have it within us to fight and overcome. Sometimes others can see what we don't. Sometimes we have to fight our own deamons. Written May 5th, 2016.
