Do you choose to live in falsehood,
caused by giving yourself the empty seat?
No one else wanted it, so you continued to
stay silent and cry as you accepted the dunce
cap, instead of the award; your punishment
for portraying the worst kind of dishonesty.
——
Do you choose to forfeit your individuality
And raise the white flag, just to stop the fire?
I have no further words for a sad excuse that
was your decision to play the role of an
an irrational hero; one whose “act of valor”
was, at best, another set of complete lies
——
Do you choose to fuel nostalgia by uprooting
the past, and relishing in the idea of pre-destination?
Whatever happened to just being who you are—
someone who can accept the now, instead
of losing sight of her own passions and dignity in
an unreal world so haphazardly created?
——
There is a crime in dishonesty
In the way that people run on loose wheels
just skating by, with no one but themselves
But I know there is also a purity in honesty
In the way that people live simply
In those who seek truth, and befriend nature
——
I swear to you, as I swear by truth
