Centuries of love and faith between us

I showered this rainy autumn
Thus far; I’m unscathed, I guess
A heart unblemished is unused
It must have the wrinkles and stains of time
To show the merit of the cause
Winters spread over these veins
It must a bit; Cooling the madness
That culminates in me
I, too, Lord must need relief
Of this ravenous mind
You endowed me with
I can feel my demons being chased away
The hot light off and the cool on
Where I can be a windy-wily boy
Once again; To bask in these rays of clarity
A gentle heart and sanity
Today my illusions dropped to the floor
I saw you, but without a mask
The way things are
I can see only misery would have come
Of anything between us
I’m too much of a soul
Stuck between ours and the afterlife
Ever-ferociously seeking my loss
Never satisfied with the facts
I’m incapable of joy
But you, you’re a summer’s day
And I would steal your light
All that glimmer and smiles
You exude; Like a cherry tree
Flourishing the median of paradise
You sparkle with hope
Drowning in brightness
With laughs so dangerous
They could kill
So I extinguish you from my dark
Because any such as you
Needs to be in the light
But there are centuries of love and faith between us
