Canary

(My dissolver)

Quietly these psalms are called upon
Sought for council
About this canary above my window
Chirping a wondrous whistling
That rang in my ears like Sunday bells
I stood for long gazing at this soul
Longing to be with, yearning to know
How she warbles out her reedy heart
And what knocks around
Inside of her sun drenched head
That seems so content
A black beak reaching heaven’s throne
Shot to my pesky soul, I say
Each day I dream on clouds I’ve painted
For this little miracle
I walk among dark eyed strangers
Filled with snarls and hopeless fists
Wondering if you’re above me
Singing your soul
Thus mine perspires
Heat wave shattered my senses
Broken this form, sprawled on cement
Tombs that closes in; but you are there
Whirling skyward just beyond my fingers
Thoughts bend on the window
There is only wings that can save my soul
Angel by way of small might
Gently brooding the evil of the night
Holding my griefs in your feathers
And I can drift inside your memories
And the years will disappear
But until then I will watch my hours pass
And once again I am at the window
In utter peace, I watch you long and longingly.
