Nature’s End

The stars have dimmed
       They’ve died out
The moon has moved on
Waved goodbye to the light of the sun
The sun has given up
The task to tiring to carry out
The trees have retreated
The branches have reached their highest
The grasses have disappeared
Never to be trodden upon by careless feet
The birds have stopped singing
Their audience never to applaud, for they were never grateful
The clouds have floated off
Past the horizon, and to the heavens
The world has ended
Or at least that’s how it seems
