Asterion

Tainted hands covering his face
Asterion the monster
Captive of the labyrinth
Mourned the bloody tribute
Devastated at his feet

He pushed the ravaged remains
Of the slaughter together
Seeking to restore her grace
Through a confusion of shame
For his bestial instinct

Torches bearing dark witness
Painted the caves with shadows
Watching those trembling cameos
He threw back his monstrous head
Roaring a piteous lament

Speechless yet he used his voice
To plead Poseidon’s mercy
Begging freedom at any price
From Ariadne’s dance ground
And that mistress of the maze
