Gesticulation

Would a grand gesture change your mind?
I endeavour to treat you kind,
I dream of the love you will find,
But do you even read of my agonies?
Are you aware of my poor hidden ecstasies?
I lose the rhyme in circling memories;
Would a grand gesture change your mind?

Write you an epic, dwell on the profound?
Compose, with crude skill, a new sound?
Carve my love in the frozen ground?
Perhaps dedicate this verse to you in name?
Walk hours to see you, embracing the rain
Lower myself before you; immune to shame
Damn the fiend if I do not see in you a picture of loveliness
And, unable to work, I wander mazes of thought in idleness
I read too much into what you say; I am presumptuous
But
Would a grand gesture change your mind?
