Condition
They say that there is no evidence for evolution,
that the whole saga of gradual change
exists only in theory.
Perhaps, then, we should simply accept
this new creation in us and rest in it,
as on a seventh day.
This would give us more than an ocean
of chance, that against all odds, I,
in my unlikely sailing,
should come across you, who just happened
to be passing by, the one
perfect link.
Nothing so unlikely could be to my liking,
better that the fates decree or that some
hidden plan intervene.
So we might take heart, adjust gracefully to the miraculous.
So we might make another move, instinctively
trusting the way.
