Green Love

I wrote this after the events that followed my 'first' kiss

I stare down the broken surface of
the mad hatter’s tea cup,
the symbols stained on his trigger fingers
grasshoppers, cranked back to launch
their ravaging plague onto me;
expecting Sisyphus to raise the boulder
out of the abyss.
If it weren’t for the green, those tea leaves
and hollow avocados, the core
inside me have surely been eaten
along with the gooey glazed kiss
that was so tantalizing,
it drew me to her.
Perhaps I did not return this kiss
to sustain her loving pasture
from me to him.
Green nights of jealousy, her phone number and such things,
caverns within the rabbit hole
I’m lost.
Will I drink from the grail?
To reach the halo
above me?
