My Sister
This poem is written for my older sister, Stephenie Nicolaou.
My sister is strong, she makes me feel like I belong.
My sister is sweet, she is one person you cannot beat.
My sister is short, but don’t be fooled her trust cannot be brought.
My sister is beautiful, I love her so much mood swings and all.
Through-out my life we have had our ups and downs,
She is my best friend and my greatest fear,
She’s stood beside me against a whole town,
She could be across the world, but be so near.
In every picture, her arms are around me,
Protected and safe, could not be touched by the whole world,
She’s guided me and has helped me see,
That I am my own person, not just another girl.
Without you in my life, I do not know what I would do,
Sisters by chance, friends by choice,
A million miles I would run to you,
Just to see you and hear your voice.
I love you with all my soul and heart,
Through thick and thin, I am by your side,
Everything I love about you, I wouldn’t know where to start,
You are the reason for my pride.
When I am down and in tears,
I’ll call out your name,
Just your presents alone will defeat my fears,
Two completely different people, but just the same.
You are my big sister forever and always,
I thank you for everything,
We will be best friends for all our days,
You are the reason I keep believing.
