The Ugly Sight

Verse 1: All the horrid things on my mind can I will something to happen over time?
The bad things that haunt me and happen in the end, do my nightmares come to life once I play pretend?

Chorus: Oh, afraid to be afraid, dissecting dark demons and the wars taking place.
When I hear noises late at night, could there be someone ready to take my life?

Who knows if you can trust that stranger across the street, people looking for violence to accommodate their own reasoning. Walk fast n catch your breathe in the city, everyone knows she’s a likely target if she’s pretty.
Super bowls or marathons, big gatherings someone drops a bomb. Give or take can’t be scared of life, I’m just cautious of the ugly sight.

Verse 2: Small town late at night, I don’t feel secure they say I’m paranoid. Tragedies on the news everyday, to innocent people, picked by random, you can’t read what comes your way.

Chorus: Hey I’m feeling the chills now. Running from the car to my front door hoping nothing pops out.
It might not be normal to let my mind wander this far. But I wanna know am I all alone or can you see where I’m coming from?

Cause it seems that everyone has a gun, last a night in this bad town and I’m a lucky one.
So secretly helpless with no street smarts, a sick man roofies your friends drink at a bar. And then you can’t-stop-thinking at night, call someone to convince you it’s alright. I’m just cautious  of the ugly sight, the worlds a scary place when you turn out the light.

Bridge: Never forget the second lock, make sure the windows are shut, the blinds closed and curtains tucked. The world will always have its ugly sight, I might be terrified but my precautions keep me in line, away from the crime, away from the ugly sight.
