Surrounded by these four cold walls,
The laughter’s turned to stone,
So much for the things once had,
In this silence we’re alone,
In the middle of the night,
We speak but none can hear,
Though we speak the words out loud,
It’s to walls that can not hear.
In the middle of the night,
When sleep just runs away,
We’re left to think about the words,
That are left inside to stay,
Thoughts roam wild as the hour’s late,
Is a nightmare a better place,
Because silence leaves a gaping wound,
That time might not erase.
In the middle of the night,
This silence is profound,
All the smiles and laughter gone,
Four walls without a sound,
Now you seem to stay away,
To leave me to myself,
A place I do not want to be,
Four walls with silence equals hell.
In the middle of the night,
When you have words you need to say,
Spoken to the shadowed walls,
It’s as if they’re thrown away,
Amongst the shadows devoid of sound,
Talking is gone now too,
And with the silence that now is heard,
Hell, it seems comes true.
In the middle of the night,
The skeletons come to call,
Though they can not speak a word,
A silent heart hears all,
Immersed in silence with shadowed walls,
Our thoughts are chained inside,
It’s then the four walls seem to say,
From silence none can hide.
In the middle of the night,
When most people are in bed,
The silence forces us to hear,
The hell in heart and head,
Maybe somehow sleep will come,
Surrounded by silent walls,
Hoping your voice once again,
Through this silence finally calls.
