WINTER SHADOW / Feb 11, 2011 small white stones fall rattling to the ground a shadow keeps pace beside me through the groaning night
the silence of colour palette of fall reflected on water white birch trees granite rocks
crickets and brittle leaves empty seed pods scurrying in the heavy scent of autumn
wild rose bush crushed between the rocks so carelessly placed and yet there a soul looks out at me
Snowflakes or fireflies Beneath an oval moon Do I wake or dream?
Still they knock at my door And complain About the state of the world Selling fear Like grape Kool Aid
Autumn dusk descends Street lights run on rain-slicked… To glistening pools
(Based on the fact that 95% of household dust is our own skin cel… flakes of me circling in the sunli… bits of you lying on the bureau gather them in a beaker
a cold moon filters down through the purple asters no explorers have returned with caterpillar robes and dandelion gold
Tide tickling sun’s wake Under a thin skin of ice Beach disappearing
white-rimmed waves crawl reluctantly shore ward moody city skyline rebuffs shafts of sunshine cloud confusion
In the universe Of winking stars is there one Who also wonders?
I’ve known rivers swift currents set free escaping to the brine of the ocean and on to exotic places I’ll never be

I saw their faces as clearly as if… on their stones beneath their name… heard their voices in the trees whose roots go deep into their dus… and into the dust of this Island
