Grave Poem of Spoon Island: Merideth Hurley

I saw their faces as clearly as if they were graven
on their stones beneath their names
heard their voices in the trees
whose roots go deep into their dust
and into the dust of this Island
and I always wondered whether life were real
or just the dreams of the dead
now I know

Inspired by the book "Spoon River Anthology" by Edgar Lee Masters. These poems have been crafted by me under the title "Grave Poems of Spoon Island".
